A California Train Get-a-Way

Traveling by train can be a relaxing way to go. Our family vacation was done during a driving rain storm on President’s weekend in February. Had we tried to drive the 500 miles through rain and L.A. traffic I know we would not of had a good time. Most Amtrak trains have snack bars with hamburgers, salads and hot dogs. Some Amtrak trains have kid’s cars with movies and games. The train we were on had it all, a 2 story Observation car, and a dining car, with a fantastic but not cheap dinner on fine china. Dinner was a real treat after a long day! The first class passengers had a private wine and cheese party mid afternoon in a beautiful train car. Traveling by train is different, especially for those of us on the west coast. The one thing to remember trains in the United States tend to run late. Just relax and enjoy the ride.
