Big Bear Lake: A great place in Southern California for Cheap Fun Family Travel
Just outside of the Los Angeles area in San Bernardino County is the mountain community of Big Bear Lake. Bright blue sky, tall pines, cedars and a gorgeous lake makes this a little bit of heaven near the city. It’s a must see kind of place. Big Bear Lake offers summer and winter activities for the entire family. Hiking, camping, shopping, water skiing, boating, fishing, snow skiing, tubing and tobogganing are just a few of the things to do here. Don’t worry if you forgot something, there are an abundance of shops in the area. You can buy or rent gear for a nominal price. Accommodations can be found everywhere in Big Bear Lake. There are plenty of hotels and cabins throughout the area. You can even rent a fully equipped house or condo for a day, a week or a month. Right now, many of the hotels and cabin rentals are offering free gas cards to tourist staying more than 2 days. With 3 ski resorts and 2 children’s tubing areas, the weekends and holidays tend to get a little crowded in the winter. Try a mid-week stay to really enjoy the peace and beauty of the mountains. During the summer you can rent a pontoon boat for a few hours and tour the lake. Head over to Stater Brothers (the local grocery store). Pick up the 12-piece chicken meal (only about 8 bucks) then relax while the family plays at the Water Park, Swim Beach or the Discovery Center. Tired from a full day in the sun? Sit back with the family and enjoy a movie at one of the two theaters in town. After a couple of days in Big Bear Lake, take the "Rim Of The World" drive to Lake Arrowhead for another wonderful family adventure. Big Bear Lake is a great place for a cheap, fun family vacation.
